What happens when I open an old MS Office document in
Office 2007?

Office 2007 contains the same applications as previous versions of Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook & Publisher), but there are a number of differences between the old and new versions.

When you open an old Office document in Office 2007, Compatibility Mode is turned on. In Compatibility Mode, you can open, edit, and save old Office documents in their original formats, but you won't be able to use any of the new Office 2007 features.

If you would like to find out more about Office 2007, visit the training section, http://infoservices.neu.edu/training, of our website to register for instructor-led training right here on campus, or access online training directly from Microsoft.
